Several months ago, we sent our 15 ‘House Proud Innovators‘ a Accents kettle and toaster set in the colour of their choice to put through their paces and to review. The Accents range is perfect for adding a splash of colour to your kitchen without spending thousands of pounds on decorating. The latest ‘Innovator’ to post a review is Helen who blogs over at ‘Fuss Free Flavours‘, check out her review below or visit the original post here.

Review: The Morphy Richards Accents Kettle & Toaster

My latest products from Morphy Richards, Home of the House Proud innovators scheme are this rather stylish red accents kettle and toaster.

It was a timely arrival as my previous kettle was well on the way out as the auto off had broken.   Brightly coloured small appliances are a cheap way to give your kitchen a new look.   They do everything that a kettle and toaster should do.

As well as red, the dome jug kettle comes in black, cream, pink, lime green and purple for £39.99.  The toaster comes in the same colours (plus white, blue and green) with a price ranging from £27.99 to £39.99 depending on colour).

Both work well.  The kettle sits on a base and can be rotated through 360 degrees.   Lightweight, easy to fill though the spout) although the lid does flip up.   It lights up with a funky blue light when turned on, and it boils very quietly, so much so I sometimes need to check that is turned on.

The toaster is easy to adjust according to your browning preferences, and for those that love their freezer as much as I do, has a handy defrost button too.

Both are great in function and looks, although they are very slightly different shades of red, but barely noticeable.

Thank you to Morphy Richards for my samples.

Exciting news here at Morphy HQ this morning, our pink Accents Kettle and Toaster is now in stock and we’re giving our social media following the chance to buy it first, what’s more, we’re also giving you the chance to make a great saving – if you buy the kettle at full price (£39.99), you can get the toaster for HALF PRICE (£19.99).

Several weeks ago, we brought you news of the launch of a brand new product to the Morphy Richards range – the Accents One Cup. In the video below, Jenna Lowe from the marketing team at Morphy Richards gives an overview of this neat little machine.

The Accents One Cup is a compact heat and dispense machine that can boil and dispense a cup of water in 30 seconds. A simple three-step process means it’s really easy to use too. Just fill a cup with cold water, pour it into the machine’s water chamber and, in around half a minute, your boiling water will be dispensed. Its compact size means it’s a great addition to the kitchen, office, for using around the home or perfect for student living. The Accents One Cup is available in Red and Black.

In the video below, Jenna describes how the machine should be used:

Product Specification…

• 3 KW
• 150 – 300ml capacity
• Boils water in 30 seconds
• Compact size
• Energy efficient
• Illuminating on / off button
• Removable drip tray
• Non slip feet

Over the last month, our ‘House Proud Innovators’ have been putting the machine through its paces; check out these reviews – The English Kitchen and Rosie Scribble.

This month some of our Innovators have been trying out the Accents One Cup, a handy hot water dispenser which boils the exact amount of water that is poured in, saving both time and energy.

Rosie Scribble is the first to share her thoughts and she’s even filmed a little demonstration video for you all. Check out her review below or click here to read her original post.

The one where I blog about boiling water

It is possibly not a blogging high point for me to be blogging about boiling water, but this contraption is a little bit clever.

It’s the Accents One Cup from Morphy Richards, which allows you to boil just enough water for one cup of tea (or coffee) , and it does it in just 30 seconds.

I’ve gone to the effort of cleaning a small section of my kitchen so I can demonstrate it in action here:

It comes in red and black and I’ve been using it several times a day as it’s quicker than boiling the kettle and it means I can boil exactly the amount of water I need.

It does look a little unusual and I’ve discovered there’s a knack to filling it with water without spilling half of it down the side, but now I’ve mastered that I wouldn’t part with it.

I received the Accents One Cup from Morphy Richards free of charge to review (RRP £34.99).

We sent Jo an Accents cream kettle and toaster set to test out as part of our innovators scheme. I think you’ll agree her kitchen worktop looks fabulous and by the sounds of it, she’s pretty happy with both products. Check out her thoughts below or click here to read the original post on her blog.

I’ve not always been particularly lucky in the kitchen department, in fact at times it’s been downright disastrous, but thanks to Morphy Richards, the kitchen in our new house has developed a bit of retro chic in the way of a new toaster and kettle.

In June we received the gorgeous Accents Cream Traditional Kettle, and the extremely funky Accents Country Cream 4 Slice Toaster.  As you can see below, they look rather fetching in my tiny little rented kitchen, and go very nicely with my ikea tea-cup shelves and a rabbit water bottle (cough).

They both retail at £51.06 which is kind of pricey, but they do exactly what it says on the box, look great and to be honest give me a little buzz every time I see them.

The kettle is simple to use, boils quickly and feels nicely balanced in your hand.  I can’t say my cups of tea taste any better from it, but I can say it has always turned on when I want it to, is easy to fill and the lid doesn’t rattle in a scary way whenever it is close to boiling – unlike my old one.

The toaster looks a lot more complicated than it is as the operation buttons are just doubled on each side so that you can use it as a 2 slice or a 4 slice toaster which I imagine saves energy.  The slots are big enough for crumpets and teacakes and we’ve also warmed croissants on the top.

Having always had to go for cheaper alternatives before, I would have to say that my head has been turned by these much prettier appliances and I will in future spend more on this kind of thing as I’m getting so much pleasure from their gorgeousness (sad I know).

There are just two things I would change:

1   Though the kettle and toaster are both cream, they’re not quite the same cream, so if you want an exact match go for the Accents Country Cream Pyramid Traditional Kettle which matches perfectly.  You can see what I mean if you click on the toaster link above and scroll down to the bottom where they have both kettles side by side.  As you can see from my pic it doesn’t make a huge difference if they’re not side by side, but I think if I was spending that amount I’d want them to match.

2 It would be useful to have a few more wire gaps under the kettle base instead of just the one, as using the shortest position is a little tight between kettle and wall socket, while the long leaves a coil of wire waiting to trip up a passing tea cup.

Apart from those kind of pernickety observations, I love them, and Morphy Richards, you cannot have them back.   It’s lucky I’m one of your House Proud Innovators and so get to keep the stuff I review, otherwise I’d have to set my vorticity on you.

Rargghhhhhhhhhh

PS  Morphy Richards recently launched ‘Home of the Houseproud‘ – a social community for all things home-related and the only place you’ll need to visit to get the most out of your Morphy products.

Our friend and official ‘House Proud Innovator’ Michelle of ‘Mummy from the Heart’ has spruced up her kitchen with a new Morphy Richards toaster and kettle from our Accents range. She’s kindly written up her honest feedback about her new products. Find out what she thought below and click here to read the original post.

You probably know that I am lucky enough to be a Morphy Richards Innovator.  This means that I get sent a product each month to review and give my honest opinion on.  I want to make clear that just because I am part of the innovator scheme does not mean I am on the Morphy Richards payroll or that they can dictate to me what to say about their products.

That said, it is completely not a problem as I have no fault with any of the products they have supplied me with so far. Morphy Richards is a name I remember from my childhood and the positive image still remains. This month I was extra lucky as I received both a kettle and toaster to review and I am loving both of them.  I would love to write you a witty post but let’s be honest there is not a lot to say about kettles and toasters. My requirement from both of these small appliances is that they do the job they are supposed to do and that they look nice.  Big tick on both accounts.

Here are my old toaster and kettle – a very sad corner of the kitchen, right? Bog standard, boring white, bought for utility rather than look.  I kept thinking one day I’ll get the kitchen re-done and then I will have nice posh ones, but for now…

and then my fairy godmother from Morphy Richards came along and said Michelle choose yourself a nice new toaster or kettle.  Brilliant thought I and I had a good look through the newAccents range.  There are some beautiful coloured appliances and two different shapes of kettles and if I had a bright and modern kitchen I would definitely have gone for something like the lime green or red but sadly I have a dated 80′s kitchen and I just need to add classic touches to try and make the best of it.  So here are the classic appliances that I did receive -

a massive improvement on the white ones, yes? I will tell you my favourite feature; they both wipe clean with a damp cloth without leaving any kind of streaky marks.  I have this little fear of stainless steel as it used to be that it took loads of care to keep it looking good but both the brushed steel of the kettle and the polished steel sides and top of the toaster keep as good as new.  I have been using the products for about three weeks now and not a sign of wear – brilliant!

The toaster has all the features you would expect, variable browning, hi-lift to remove smaller items like muffins and crumpets and removable crumb trays to keep it squeaky clean. There are also reheat and defrost settings  and the whole toaster is cool to the touch, great for my little kids.

The kettle is 1.7 litres, enough for about 8 good size cups.  I love the double window to allow both left and right handed people to use the kettle effectively and the gauge really does help you to boil just the right amount that you need, as little as for 2 cups.

As with other Morphy Richards products a 1 year guarantee comes as standard and if you register within 28 days of purchase they will double that to a 2 year guarantee – super value!

All in all I am a happy girl and I would recommend both these products.  You can buy directly from Morphy Richards or I noticed Debenhams had a wonderful display of the range last weekend. Also, don’t forget to visit their blog, Home of the House proud - it really is very good!

I received a kettle and toaster free to charge to review as part of the Morphy Richards House Proud Innovators Scheme.  I was not instructed what to write and I remain honest.

Here at ‘Home of the House Proud’, we’re aware that slow cookers are more synonymous with the winter than the summer. However, there are hundreds of delicious summery dishes that you can rustle up in a slow cooker. Check out our recipe bank, we’re pretty sure that the Baked Vanilla Cheesecake and the Lemon Chicken dishes will go down particularly well at this time of year!

Baked Vanilla Cheesecake

At Morphy Richards, we’re very proud of our range of slow cookers, particularly the Flavour Savour which we launched last year. However, if you’re currently making home improvements and looking to brighten up or inject some colour into your kitchen, look no further than our Accents range. We have kettles, toasters, filter coffee makers and slow cookers in a range of different colours, check out the entire range on the Morphy Richards website.

To help you on your way with injecting colour into one of the most important rooms in your home, we’ve got a blue Accents Slow Cooker worth £34.99 to giveaway to one of our lucky Twitter followers this weekend. Simply follow us @LoveYourMorphy and watch out for instructions. The competition will be run via a ‘Retweet’ mechanic and the competition will close at noon on Monday 20th June 2011. A winner will be selected at random from all of the ‘Retweets’ made. Good Luck!

Our Accents Kettles and Toasters have been going down swimmingly with our Innovators this month. Rosie Scribble has been trying to keep her beautiful cream toaster under wraps so Grannie doesn’t get too jealous. Check out her review below or click here to read it on her own blog.

Just don’t mention the toaster

Granny is now the proud owner of a brand new kitchen with sparkly white floors and surfaces you could eat your dinner off, she tells me. It’s all very nice and long-awaited except I have put a spanner in the works, because Granny has also put a lot of time and attention into choosing a new kettle to match her new kitchen. After much thought and consideration she has gone for a cream kettle not dissimilar to this:

Accents kettle 2
I’ve admired it, said it’s very nice and then mentioned that I too had a brand new cream Accents dome kettle which was delivered straight to my door without charge from Morphy Richards. Granny smiled sweetly and commented positively but I’m sensing tension. I think she may secretly be cursing the Home of the House Proud Innovator Scheme. Last month I was harping on about my new iron and we’ve already discussed the relative benefits of different brands of vacuum cleaners in a ‘my carpets are cleaner that yours’ type of manner.

So for obvious reasons I have decided not the mention that Morphy Richards also sent me an Accents toaster to match our kettle. It might just push Granny over the edge.

Accents toaster We love them both (and Granny) and under no circumstances would we part with them. The kettle (RRP £51.06) has a 360 degree cordless base for left handed and right handed use, a rapid boil feature so you don’t have to stand around forever waiting for your cup of coffee, and a removable limescale filter to help keep it clean.

The toaster’s design is very stylish (RRP 51.06). It has a variable browning control so you can get your toast just right, a removable crumb tray to help keep the kitchen clean and a fabulous variable width function which means it accommodates breads of all thicknesses. It even has a defrost function which is perfect as we often buy bread in bulk and freeze it.

I can post all this here now as Granny is currently travelling around the fjords of Norway ahead of her 65th birthday, so for the time being I can enjoy my toast in peace.

This month as part of the Morphy Richards  ’House Proud Innovators’ scheme, all of our lovely bloggers were sent a Morphy Richards kettle and toaster from the Accents range to review.  The Accents range is available in a range of colours and the products within the range are perfect to inject some colour and life into your kitchen, what’s more, the Accents range is very stylish and would complement any kitchen.
