For all you coffee connoisseurs out there you’ll be aware of the frustration of having a cup of coffee that is too hot or too cold. Too hot and the wonderful aroma and flavour of the coffee can be masked by a burnt taste. Let it get too cold and it’s just no longer satisfying.

At Morphy Richards we’re always on the lookout for ways to be more innovative and we were very impressed when we read about this new invention designed by two friends from New York. Coffee Joulies look like small pebbles and are designed to cool coffee that’s too hot and keep the drink hot when it starts cooling down (for up to five hours!)

Sounds to good to be true? Well there is a science behind the stones which are made of a unique temperature mitigating material. Once they are placed in a hot cup of coffee they absorb thermal energy, then start releasing the stored energy back into the drink as it begins to cool down.

What started off as a small project is fast becoming a fully fledged business as order keep pouring in. Could this be the secret to the perfect cup of coffee?
